Author Guidelines
Scope and article types
Solar Cell Insights publishes high-quality experimental, theoretical, and computational research across all areas of solar cell science. The journal welcomes original research articles, short communications, methods papers, and technical reports.
The journal explicitly encourages submissions reporting negative, null, or non-optimised results, provided the work is scientifically rigorous, well-controlled, and clearly analysed.
Scientific standards
All submitted manuscripts must demonstrate:
- Clear research motivation and context
- Sound experimental or theoretical methodology
- Appropriate controls and reproducibility
- Quantitative analysis supported by data
- Conclusions consistent with the presented evidence
Manuscripts are evaluated on scientific rigor and insight, not on record performance metrics or efficiency values.
Ethical and transparency requirements
Authors must:
- Declare that the work is original and not under consideration elsewhere
- Properly cite all relevant prior work
- Clearly describe materials, device fabrication, measurement conditions, and data analysis procedures
- Disclose any potential conflicts of interest
Where applicable, authors are strongly encouraged to provide raw data, supporting datasets, or analysis scripts as supplementary material.
Manuscript preparation
Language: English (clear, concise, and technical). Format: single-column, standard scientific structure. Length: no strict limit; clarity and completeness are prioritised.
Recommended structure: Abstract, Introduction, Experimental / Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgements, References. Figures and tables must be clearly labelled, high quality, and referenced in the text.
References
Authors should ensure that references are accurate, complete, and formatted consistently. Any standard scientific citation style is acceptable at submission; final formatting will be applied after acceptance.
Peer review
All manuscripts undergo peer review by experts in the relevant field, with emphasis on methodological soundness, data interpretation and scientific clarity. Manuscripts are not rejected solely due to negative results or modest device performance. See the full Peer Review Policy.
Open access and publication
Solar Cell Insights is an open-access journal. Details regarding article processing charges (APCs), waivers, or introductory free publication periods are given on the Article Processing Charges page.
Submission process
Manuscripts should be submitted electronically via the journal's submission system. All submissions must include:
- A cover letter briefly describing the contribution
- The full manuscript
- Any supplementary material
