Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Submission Preparation Checklist

These thirteen statements are the compulsory tick-boxes you must confirm before you can proceed with your submission:

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it under consideration by another journal.
  • The submission is within the scope of Solar Cell Insights — solar cells and photovoltaic research.
  • The manuscript file is in Word (.docx) or PDF format, single-column, follows the recommended structure, and has continuous line numbering enabled for review.
  • The author identity has been removed from the manuscript file, in accordance with the journal's review policy.
  • All figures and tables are clearly labelled, of sufficient resolution, and referenced in the text.
  • Materials, device fabrication, measurement conditions and data analysis procedures are described in sufficient detail for the work to be assessed and repeated.
  • Where device performance is reported, the number of devices and the distribution of parameters are given, not only champion values.
  • References are accurate, complete, and formatted consistently in a standard scientific style.
  • A Data Availability Statement is included.
  • All authors have seen and approved the submitted version.
  • Any conflicts of interest, financial or otherwise, have been disclosed (state "none" if there are none).
  • This study does not involve human participants, patient data, or live animal subjects. (If it does, describe the relevant ethical approvals and consent procedures in the cover letter.)
  • A cover letter briefly describing the contribution has been prepared for upload.

Legal review required This is one of two pages on the site with legal consequences (the other is the Imprint). The structure below is sound, but a German lawyer or the publisher's data protection adviser should read the final text before launch — the cost of getting this checked is small next to the cost of getting it wrong.

The names and email addresses entered on this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

Who we are

The data controller is SAMTrek UG (haftungsbeschränkt), [ADDRESS — see Contact/Imprint].

What we collect, and why

We collect names, affiliations, email addresses and — where applicable — ORCID iDs from readers who register, authors who submit, reviewers who are invited, and editors. This data is used to operate the peer-review and publishing workflow, to contact you about submissions or review invitations, and — with your consent — to send new-issue alerts.

Published article metadata

Author names, affiliations, ORCID iDs and email addresses in published article metadata are deposited with Crossref and are public and permanent. Authors are told this plainly at submission.

Reviewer identities

Reviewer identities are held in the system and are not disclosed to authors under the journal's double-anonymous review model.

Who we share data with

Crossref (for DOI metadata on published articles), ORCID (if you connect your iD), and the journal's hosting provider. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party analytics — usage statistics are generated by the platform itself, self-hosted.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account data at any time by writing to support@[DOMAIN]. You may also complain to your national data protection supervisory authority.

Retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. Published article metadata is retained permanently, as is standard for the scholarly record.
